We met up with Melissa & her bridesmaids in the first floor of the Yager House while Bubba & his buds dressed up above. Once Melissa was in here xxxx dress and had a moment with her father, it was time. With well over two feet of snow on the ground, the only option was to embrace it for their first look. We headed out on one of the many Nordic trails so these two could hug, embrace and shed a tear together.

With the cold weather, Bubba & Melissa opted to get married in the Broad Axe Barn in front of the grand fireplace. Bubba mentioned that if they had not had done the first look, that he would have passed out as Melissa began to come down the isle. Although it was a big wedding, it felt like a small intimate ceremony as their dear friend married them off.

After these two walked back down as husband & wife, they were greeted by Phoebe, the whiskey dog, who had a shot of bourbon waiting for them. Once again, it was time to brave the cold, but shortly after, we made our way up to the High Lonesome Lodge to join the rest of their guests for a beautiful reception.

Adam & Leah started their wedding day off by each getting ready with the friends and family on different levels of the Yager House. After Adam’s bow tie was tied and Leah’s dress was laced, these two met up for a beautiful first look among a field of flowers on the ranch.

Shortly after their first kiss and Adam breaking the glass, their closest friends & family began the evening of celebration in the Broad Axe Barn. They had a collection of tasty whisky to sip as well as an oxygen bar for their East Coast and Houston friends to try out.

While the sun didn’t make an appearance for all but ten minutes of their Devil’s Thumb Ranch Wedding, it still felt as warm as could be. The weather held out long enough for these two to get married under the arbor at the High Lonesome Lodge. Following the ceremony, we trucked the entire wedding party down to the pasture for some running, jumping and energy packed photos next to the buck and rail fencing the ranch is known for.

As the temperature dropped, everyone headed into the lodge so the reception could begin. The night kicked off with live music from xxxxx while Dave & Audrey had their first dance. The speeches from their respective loved ones were to die for. Audrey’s father had everyone rolling on the floor.

The staff keep the ranch running at peak performance, regardless of the season. We’ve photographed summer, spring, fall and winter weddings here and have always been delighted with the changes in scenery. It would be hard to pick a favorite season and it really is one of the few venues that can accommodate any size of wedding at any time of the year.
