]]> If you are looking for snow in August, this is your place. The St. Mary’s Glacier is at the end of a short hike (less than a mile) up to St. Mary’s Lake. During mid to late summer, you’ll find fields of wild flowers and plenty of beautiful Rocky Mountain views. The trail and surounding area can have some heavy traffic during weekends in the summer. We suggest starting mid to late afternoon as the sun quickly hides behind the ridge before the valley is completely shaded.

Being national forest, you aren’t required to have an special permits other than paying for parking. We do ask that every couple respects the environment and doesn’t venture off onto one of the many social trails created by the many visiting tourists.

]]> When Katy suggested we go big and take a hike for their St. Mary’s Glacier Engagement, we were all in. The view makes it all worth it. After making the climb, we were all taken away by how green the vegetation was for this time of year. We hiked over rocks, crossed rivers and scrambled our way to the back of the lake where we found a perfect patch of wildflowers.

St. Mary’s Glacier did not disappoint and neither did Justin & Katy. These two will be getting married next year at one of our favorite venues, Ten Mile Station. We are looking forward to documenting their wedding day.
