Meeting with these two and planning for the wedding, they emphasized how important the unscripted story of their day was. Meredith, a journalist, was drawn to our creative, but moment driven approach to wedding photography. It’s always a delight when our couple’s trust us enough to document their wedding with a hands-off approach.

Their wedding weekend started with a black-tie rehearsal at Left Bank in the Vail Village. Doug & Meredith invited their closest friends & family for an evening of heartfelt toasts and time spent together before the big day. Left Bank’s chef, Jean-Michel Chelain, delighted these two with a French Wedding Cake, a spectacular sight, unlike any wedding cake we’ve seen before.

The next day, these two spend their mornings getting ready at the Lion’s Square Lodge, only a short walk to their gondola ride to the top of Vail Mountain. Doug’s reaction to seeing Meredith for the first time was once in a lifetime. Completely taken away by the beauty of his soon-to-be wife.

Later that evening, their guests began to pack the Vail Wedding Deck. Each one of them, excited to witness the union of these two at one of the most breathtaking wedding venues in Colorado.

All-in-all, their Vail Wedding Deck Wedding was as good as it gets. The amount of hugs, tears of joy, laughter and real moments was at an all-time high. It was such a joy being able to document a story such as Doug & Meredith’s.

Suzanne and her lovely family started the day off with hair and makeup in the cutest Airbnb, just across from the Vail Village. The view was to die for. After adorning her wedding dress, we loaded in the Eagle Bahn Gondola for a ride to the top of Vail. Shortly after unloading, Zach & his groomsmen arrived and polished off a few craft beers before it came time to walk down the isle.

After exchanging the usual kiss and vows, these two danced among the wild flowers before venturing back down, eventually to the Donovan Pavilion for their wedding reception. With the help of Chelsea at Radiant Events, and a wonderful team of wedding vendors, their party went off without a hitch. The highlight of their night had to be the moment Suzanne iced Zach when he thought he was removing the garter.

A huge congrats to these two and their Summer Wedding at the Vail Wedding Deck. All that we ever ask for are beautiful moments and a fun loving couple. It never hurts when you get backdrops like these and a party that just won’t stop. Thanks for having us there to document your Vail Wedding.

On your wedding day, your guests will use the Eagle Bahn Gondola, also known as #19, to get to your mountain-top ceremony. Upon exiting the ski lodge, it’s a short walk over to the wedding deck itself. Not interested in walking? Vail Resorts has you covered with complimentary golf cart rides.

During the later summer months, this surrounding area is covered with beautiful wildflowers, but please be respectful of the delicate alpine ecosystems.

Our one suggestion if you are thinking about using the Holy Cross Wedding Deck is to consider an early morning or afternoon ceremony time. Mid-day sun on top of a mountain with no shade can be a bit harsh for photos and your guests. Overall, you cannot go wrong with the Holy Cross Wedding Deck if your budget permits it when looking for a Vail Wedding Venue.
