After their intimate ceremony, we explored the Telluride Valley with these two. The winter storm prohibited the big landscape photos we often photograph in Telluride, but thankfully these two made an adventure session on the following day a possibility. The weather opened up a bit for some beautiful winter portraits at San Sophia Overlook, one of the most beautiful Telluride Wedding Venues.

We had a blast with these two during their Winter Telluride Elopement. Julien, a photographer as well, decided to take our photography workshop later in 2021 and is now a wedding photographer himself.

After a beautiful rehearsal dinner at Allred’s on Friday, we started Nick & Ali’s wedding day at the Lumière with Inspirato where they both got ready with their family & friends. Soon after these two were in their atire and ready for their first look, we headed to the valley floor. With the sun shining and a fresh coat of snow on the Sneffels Range, our backdrops could not have been more spectacular for these two.

As the sun began to set, we headed up the mountain for their San Sophia Overlook Wedding. The weather was perfect as Ali & Nick made everything official during the ceremony. After they exchanged a kiss and walked back down the isle as husband and wife, Nick’s sister gave a toast to the two newlyweds.

Heading down the mountain about halfway, we found ourselves at Gorrono Ranch for their reception. With the sun setting, it was a perfect time to get the party started. Some beautiful toasts capped off a delicious dinner and the dance floor soon became the next hotspot. These two spend the evening dancing the night away with their closest friends, many from Michigan & Arizona, where Nick & Ali attended college. Congrats you two on your fall wedding at San Sophia and Gorrono Ranch. It was a pleasure to document it.

Almost every wedding has a hiccup. It’s just the nature of the beast. For Brad and Alex, it was a power outage right as hair and makeup was set to begin. The entire Mountain Village was in a blackout, which puts a damper on steaming dresses and curling hair. Fortunately, these two brough along their Mercedes Camper Van which had a generator powerful enough to steam the dress. After a little improvising, Alex was out the door and on her way up to the San Sophia Wedding Deck.

The forecasted rain was nowhere in sight as their ceremony got underway at the most beautiful ceremony site in Colorado. One of Brad’s good friends officiated and had everyone laughing and crying at the same time. It could not have been more picture perfect. Shortly after, we made our way down the gondola to the valley floor for a few portraits in the quaint little mountain town.

As the sun began to set, it was back up the mountain we went to Gorrono Ranch for the reception. These two packed everything they could possibly pack into an evening. Their guests will surely never forget Brad & Alex’s Gorrono Ranch Wedding in Telluride. We know we wont. Congrats you two and thanks for having us there to document your big day.

Having looked at a few of our past San Sophia Weddings, Mike & Dana decided to first hire us for their Telluride Engagement, but also for their big day in August. It was perfect weather for these two as they made their way to the valley floor, downtown for a few iconic photos and finally finishing up top for their ceremony and reception at Allred’s.

We had a blast working with these two, making some timeless photographs all throughout the day. It was such an honor when The New York Times decided to pick-up the story of their day and feature an article in their print edition. Congrats you two on your Allred’s Wedding in Telluride.

The deck sits right on top of the town of Telluride below. It’s almost as if you can reach out and touch the wall of San Juan Mountains. Turn 180 degrees and the view of the Wilson Range is just as epic.

For us photographers, the way San Sophia is positioned provides for the best lighting possible. Cloudy or full sun, it doesn’t matter, it’s going to look stunning. We can guarantee it.

We really appreciate that Telluride Ski Resort has kept San Sophia Overlook clutter free from fences, signs or ugly distractions. Some mountain wedding venues are encapsulated with neon flags and signs asking for people to keep out. With that said, the usual public access to the overlook is shutoff during your ceremony.

San Sophia is a ceremony location only, so eventually you and your guests will have to make your way to the reception. There are plenty of options available, most of them in the Mountain Village, but the closest being Allred’s or Gorrono Ranch.

Andrea, her family and bridesmaids spent the morning getting their hair & makeup done in her room at The Peaks Resort & Spa. Tyler, just up the road at a beautiful mountain home overlooking the Telluride Valley Floor. While the weather in the mountains is always unpredictable, being so far up, we were able to see the oncoming thunderstorm. Just as Drea was stepping into her dress, it hit, forcing us to change up their plans for the first look. During the drive down from the ski village, I asked Drea if she would be willing to sacrifice a little mud on the heals for a chance at a valley floor photo. She was all for it.

After these two shared a moment, we headed to Main Street in Telluride to meet up with their wedding party and some photos among the busy little mountain town. These two embraced the hectic traffic & crowds of tourists as eventually made our way to the San Sophia Overlook. The next 30 minutes of their day was like nothing we’ve ever seen before. You could see a second thunderstorm approaching, but there was no where for the guests to hide. Everyone of them sat in their chair, huddled under their umbrella as the rain came. It didn’t last long. Afterward, everyone was treated with one of the most surreal scenes we’ve ever witnessed. A beautiful rainbow covered the Telluride Valley Floor.

Following their first kiss, we made our way down the mountain for their reception at The Peaks Resort & Spa. The toasts from Tyler & Drea’s best friends had the whole crowd laughing. Both included a little roasting of the newlyweds, but in the end, they talked about how loyal & kind these two were. We finished off the night with the finest live band in the industry, Mannequin the Band. The entire day could not have gone off without the help of ladies from Table 6 Productions. Thanks to everyone for their help in making Tyler & Drea’s San Sophia Overlook Wedding the perfect day.
